Polished Plaster

About this Finish

Polished Plaster Melbourne Polished Plaster is a traditional Venetian plaster finish renowned for its depth, movement and mirror-like shine. Applied by hand using multiple layers, the surface is carefully burnished and polished to create a smooth, highly reflective finish that resembles polished marble and has a mirror effect. Perfect for feature walls, entrances and luxury interiors, Polished Plaster enhances natural and artificial light, adding a sense of elegance, brightness and sophistication to any space — and is a favourite with interior designers. How it's applied Each coat is trowelled on and left to partially cure before the next is added — typically three depending on the depth of finish required. The final coat is burnished under pressure, which compacts the marble dust and brings out its natural light-reflective quality. This is a skilled, time-intensive process; there's no shortcut to a genuine polished finish. Where it works best Feature walls, entrances, and luxury interiors, and any space where you want light to play across the surface — polished plaster changes character throughout the day as natural and artificial light shifts. It also works beautifully in commercial fit-outs, hotel lobbies, and retail spaces where a premium first impression matters. Durability and care Once sealed, polished plaster is hard-wearing and resistant to everyday knocks. It won't chip or peel the way paint does, and light dusting or an occasional damp wipe is all it needs to stay looking its best. Colour and finish options Polished plaster can be tinted to almost any colour and finished with varying levels of gloss, from a soft satin sheen to a full mirror polish. We can develop a sample board with you before starting any project so you can see the true colour and finish in your own lighting. Renaissance Decor services polished plaster projects across Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. Contact us to arrange a consultation or sample board.
